Last night we brought the Stanford Global Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference to Ireland for the 1st time. and look at the turn out!
WiDS Dublin 2018 was organized in partnership with Accenture and HER+Data to celebrate women in Data Science in Ireland. We featured 3 local speakers for inspiring talks in the fields of data science, machine learning and analytics:
- Dr. Elizabeth Daly, Research Scientist & Research Manager, Cognitive Analytics in IBM Research Dublin gave a talk on Social Recommender Systems
- Dr. Amelia Kelly, Director of Speech Technology in Soapbox Labs gave a talk on Data Diversity in Children’s Speak Recognition
- Noelle Doody, Head of Analytics, SSE Airtricity gave a talk on Opportunities & Challenges of Data Science at SSE Airtricity
We also showcased a recorded session from the main WiDS Stanford 2018 Conference. Dr. Elena Grewal, Head of Data Science at AirBnb presented a tech vision talk on the Evolution of Data Science @ Airbnb. And we finished the night with a panel on future trends & opportunities featuring great speakers from Accenture:
- Oonagh O’Shea, Head of Life Sciences Analytics, Accenture Ireland
- Asta Lund, Digital Senior Manager, Accenture Ireland
- Medb Corcoran, Intelligent Enterprise Analytics Lead, The Dock Accenture.
